Branding Because this magazine is being used as a leave behind, I wanted to ensure that it was cohesive with the rest of my professional documents such as, stationery, business cards, thank you cards and personalized envelopes. Cover I achieved this cohesive branding on the front cover through the use of the maroon color that is used through my identity package, as well as the use of bands. This is a similar design that I have on both my business cards and thank you cards. I carried this maroon color throughout the magazine whenever possible, such as the front cover, inside photo gallery on the backside of the cover page and on the back cover. I also used the same typeface for titles as I used for my logotype. Photo Gallery The photo gallery which is found on page two utilizes the maroon as a background color. It also implements the band as you can see to the right in how the title background stretches across the page, with a vertical band extending down for the white introduction/ body text to contrast against. Back Cover For my back cover I chose to use a simple light gray background as I used for the background of the photo gallery and used an enlarged version of the contact information set up that is found on the back of my thank you cards. By carrying elements from my professional documents into my magazine when able, I was able to create a document that is both unique and reminiscent of my personal brand. Content Spreads This magazine is composed of what I deem to be my best journalistic articles. I chose not only based upon writing content, but also chose those that I felt I could create successful graphics for. The various spreads include title graphics, supplemental decorative graphics, informational graphics, photographs and the written content. The goal was to create an example of the different skills I have and how I can create a successful spread in which all three (writing, graphics and photos) may coexist. To the right is an example of one of what I feel is my most successful pages, which also houses a variety of elements that are used throughout the magazine. Below is a spread example that visualizes a variety of the elements that are mentioned above. |
